Wix is like renting an apartment in a fancy building. It’s pre-furnished, everything is easy to use, and you can move in right away. But, you have to follow their rules, and you can’t just pack up the building and move it somewhere else if you want to grow bigger.
Bluehost + WordPress is like building your own house on your own land. It takes a little more work at the beginning to set the foundation, but you own everything. You have complete control, and you can expand, renovate, or change it however you want as your blog grows into a business.
Why I Chose to “Own My House”I’ll be honest—I didn’t know much about technology when I started. I actually thought Bluehost was just another “blogging platform” like Wix! But I learned that starting with Bluehost and WordPress is the best foundation for a serious blogger.
Here is why I am so glad I made this choice:
Total Freedom: Since I have big plans to grow my blog into a business (and even start my new affiliate site for devotion essentials), I needed a foundation that wouldn’t lock me in.

When I look back, I realize that not knowing everything actually helped me. If I had known every single tech hurdle I would face, I might have been too scared to start! Sometimes, being a little naive is a blessing—it gives you the courage to just jump in and learn as you go.
If you are just starting out, don’t worry about being an “expert” yet. Just focus on building your own “house” on solid ground. You’ll be surprised at how quickly you learn, and before you know it, you’ll have a website you are truly proud of.
